The Systems Engineer is an entry-level engineering role focused on supporting the design, integration, and operation of complex systems such as IT networks, software platforms, and hardware infrastructures under the guidance of senior engineers. This role assists in ensuring that system components function together effectively to meet project requirements and business objectives. The Systems Engineer I analyzes existing systems, researches and recommends solutions, supports the implementation of new technologies, and performs troubleshooting to optimize system performance and reliability. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the role bridges technical details with overall system objectives, contributing to improved performance, scalability, and user experience across various industries while applying foundational project management principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Integration: Assist in the design, development, and integration of system components, including hardware, software, networks, and operational processes, to ensure they function as a cohesive and efficient system.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability; identify potential bottlenecks or risks; and support maintenance activities to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Diagnose, analyze, and resolve technical issues across system components, escalating complex problems to senior engineers when required.
  • Requirements Analysis: Support the analysis and documentation of customer, user, and business requirements early in the system lifecycle to ensure solutions align with functional and performance expectations.
  • Documentation & Standards: Create, update, and maintain accurate engineering documentation, system configurations, procedures, and technical standards to support system operation and future enhancements.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams such as IT, operations, management, and business units to align system solutions with project objectives and organizational goals.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Systems Thinking: Ability to understand how components within a complex system interact, including hardware, software, networks, and processes, and how changes in one area impact overall system performance. 
  • Technical Expertise: Foundational knowledge in one or more technical domains such as information technology, software development, hardware systems, networking, or relevant industry fields (e.g., aerospace, defense, telecommunications). 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to identify technical challenges and contribute to effective, well‑integrated solutions that address system‑level requirements. 
  • Entry-Level Support Capability: Ability to perform assigned tasks and less complex engineering activities under supervision, while demonstrating a willingness to learn, follow established procedures, and progressively take on greater responsibilities.
