Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking an experienced Mail Security Operations Specialist that will support Planate Management Group on high-risk incoming mail operations for government and high-security facilities. You will advise on how mail is received, screened, isolated, opened when required, documented, and escalated. 

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help write mail-screening procedures for high-consequence sites: intake, visual and X-ray review, isolation, opening or confirmation, release or escalation.
• Advise on isolated-cell operations: PPE, chain of custody, evidence handling, and hoax-versus-hazard decisions.
• Support drills with security, facilities, and first-responder counterparts.
• Translate operator workflow into requirements for automated screening systems.
• Train client screeners and field technicians on suspicious-mail recognition and stop-work authority.
• Support paid pilots: site survey, acceptance testing, go-live, and early operations.
• Coordinate incident documentation with USSS, USPIS, FPS, local bomb squad, or equivalent as needed.
• Occasional travel to client sites and company locations.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in high-risk mail screening, official mail operations, isolated mail-facility operations, CBRNE/WMD response support, or Secret Service, military, or postal-inspection mail-security operations. 
• Hands-on experience with X-ray or equivalent imaging of letters and parcels, including the application of formal suspicious-item procedures.
• Experience leading or supervising mail-screening teams.
• Experience operating in off-site or isolated screening facilities and working alongside automated screening equipment. 
• Familiarity with GSA or OSAC mail-screening guidance. 
• Experience supporting DoD, federal facility, or SDVOSB contract work. 
• Availability for part-time work, including occasional travel to client sites. 
• Experience as a former USSS, USPIS, military EOD/CBRN, specialty mail-screening contractor, or agency official-mail lead is preferred.
• Knowledge of modern detection technologies, operating principles, equipment limitations, sustainment, and PMCS required. 
• Knowledge of Federal Mail Screening and Facility Standards and their application to screening procedures and SOPs required. 
• Basic knowledge of engineering controls and facility systems, including downdraft tables, negative pressure settings, and air handlers preferred. 
• Basic knowledge of automation and digitization technologies used in mail screening and security operations preferred. 
• Experience developing SOPs for engineering controls, facility systems, PMCS, PPE, and environmental disposal preferred. 
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret (SC) security clearance are required. A Top Secret (TS) security clearance is preferred.
