Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other federal agencies, all over the world.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2–5 years of experience in fire protection systems within construction or industrial projects
  • Hands-on experience in installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm and firefighting systems
  • Knowledge of fire protection equipment (alarms, sprinklers, pumps, hydrants, extinguishers)
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and system layouts
  • Familiar with fire safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA is an advantage)
  • Experience working on-site and coordinating with project teams
  • Physically fit; capable of working at heights and in demanding environments
  • Basic electrical knowledge related to fire alarm systems preferred
  • Relevant technical/vocational training preferred; Fire Safety NC II / Scaffolding is an advantage

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, test, commission, and maintain fire alarm and firefighting systems
  • Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire protection equipment
  • Interpret technical drawings and ensure proper system installation
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and site personnel for project compliance
  • Ensure adherence to fire safety codes, standards, and regulations
  • Maintain tools and follow strict health and safety procedures
