Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in Southeast Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
The Chief Design Engineer will provide overall technical leadership for the design development, coordination, and review of multidisciplinary engineering designs for infrastructure projects. The role requires strong engineering expertise, design management capability, and experience delivering complex projects in compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities:
· Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering design activities, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and related disciplines.
· Oversee design development and design review to ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
· Ensure engineering designs align with project objectives, budgets, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
· Coordinate engineering inputs with architectural and other technical teams.
· Support implementation of works under complex quality and safety management plans.
· Provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through construction support.
Qualifications To be successful in the role:
- A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in design development and design review for infrastructure projects, including: Housing, Healthcare facilities, Institutional buildings, Critical infrastructure
- At least three (3) years of experience serving in a Chief Design Engineer or equivalent senior engineering leadership role.
- Extensive experience supporting or overseeing the implementation of works under complex quality and safety plans.
- A master’s degree in building engineering disciplines (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant disciplines) with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, OR A bachelor’s degree in the same or related disciplines with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Possession of a valid Professional Certification authorizing relevant design activities for CC2 or CC3 category buildings/structures.
- Strong technical leadership and coordination skills
- In depth knowledge of engineering design standards and regulatory requirements
- Ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary design processes.
