Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking experienced Structures Technicians to support construction and infrastructure operations at Al Dhafra Air Base (ADAB). This role involves hands-on work in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of buildings and structural systems to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with project requirements. 

This position is contingent upon contract award. The initial contract duration is three (3) months, with potential for extension. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of structural components (concrete, steel, masonry, and building systems)
  • Support construction activities, including installation, modification, and repair of structural elements
  • Identify structural defects such as cracks, corrosion, and material degradation
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and construction specifications
  • Ensure all work complies with project requirements, safety standards, and applicable codes
  • Assist in concrete works, carpentry, framing, and general structural repairs
  • Conduct quality checks and support QA/QC inspections as required
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment for construction tasks
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and site procedures in a controlled/military base environment
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers, Supervisors, and other trade personnel
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in construction, civil, or structural trades preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of construction or structural work experience (civil, facilities, or infrastructure projects)
  • Must be eligible for NACI clearance; candidates with prior NACI, or interim or active SECRET CLEARANCE are strongly preferred 
  • Experience working on U.S. government or overseas construction projects is an advantage
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of structural materials (concrete, steel, wood, etc.)
  • Experience with construction tools, equipment, and basic fabrication/repair work
  • Ability to work in remote, austere, and high-tempo environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Must be able to meet base access and deployment requirements
