Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for overseeing civil and structural engineering design activities and ensuring full compliance with local regulations, technical standards, quality, and safetyrequirements. You will provide strong technical leadership and experience delivering complex construction and infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee civil and structural engineering design, review, and coordination activities.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, codes, and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate civil and structural inputs with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
  • Review designs for constructability, quality, safety, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Support and oversee implementation of works under complex construction, reconstruction, quality, and safety management plans.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from design through construction support.

Qualifications to be successful in the role: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience or a master’s degree in civil or structural engineering with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in design development and design review for  civil and structural engineering works on infrastructure projects, including: Housing, Healthcare facilities, Institutional buildings, Critical infrastructure
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience serving in a Chief Structural Engineer or equivalent senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing or supporting complex construction and reconstruction works.
  • Extensive experience implementing works under complex quality and safety plans.
  • Possession of a valid Professional Certification authorizing relevant civil/structural design activities for CC2 or CC3 category buildings/structures.
  • Strong civil and structural engineering leadership and coordination skills
  • In depth knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary design and construction processes.
